My name is Clare McKinstry and I qualified from Glasgow veterinary School in 1996. I started life as a young veterinary surgeon developing my skills in mixed practice in the north of England.
I quickly realised that horses were my vocation and so I pursued a career in Equine Practice heading to the south of England in 1998 where I have remained ever since.
As I gained more experience I became particularly interested in poor performance issues in the equine athlete , from lameness investigations to pre purchase examinations and the use of Acupuncture in the competing horse.
I also enjoy stud work and have over 15 years experience in both frozen and chilled artificial insemination. I also became a FEI treating vet and enjoy providing cover for BE events as well as having the pleasure of working at Blenheim and the Royal Windsor horse Show.
Alongside my veterinary career I have been fortunate to own and compete a number of horses, currently I have high hopes for my homebred 3 year old.
I believe that being a horse owner and a competitive rider myself allows me to really appreciate the more challenging issues my clients experience with their own horses especially those of poor performance and subtle lameness.
